Meet Leigh Joel Scott. I’ve been making people laugh as long as I can remember. Not necessarily “with,” but, hey – an audience is an audience.

1. Could you please introduce yourself and provide a description of who you are?

I’m Leigh Joel Scott, an Australian-born actor and writer. I’ve been on stage since I could walk, and now I live in LA, writing coming-of-age comedies and talking to myself in padded rooms.

2. How did you initially break into the TV/Movie Industry, and what stage of your career are you currently at?

I’ve been making people laugh as long as I can remember. Not necessarily “with,” but, hey – an audience is an audience. I starred in countless commercials in Australia – everything from a viking, to a mechanic, to a nerd getting lucky on a bus stop. But it wasn’t enough! I mean, don’t get me wrong, I loved making out with a model for 8 straight hours, but I don’t know if she loved the pash rash.

Nine years ago, I moved to LA and managed to get myself an agent. I did a casting director workshop, which lead to my first TV appearance over here, as a nerdy jerk on Conan O’brien. And they kept bringing me back!
While I was here, I did a voiceover class as the behest of the incredibly talented Antonio Alvarez, where I got signed by an agent. Standing in that VO booth was incredible.
Now, I’m happily – and very luckily – doing voices at Nickelodeon on a to-bo-announced animated series, and writing romcoms and Christmas movies for a small production company.

Every little boy’s dream.

It’s difficult when you’re constantly working, to sit back and realize how far you’ve come. I’m proud of the work I do. I make myself laugh while pretending to be a little wizard boy with whooping cough, or a very theatrical lighting designer, or an old British woman. That’s all that matters.

3. Which project that you have been a part of, either as an actor or director, stands out as your favorite so far?

Picking a favorite is always difficult. I’d say one that gets the biggest reaction is when I tell people I play a few roles in Hogwarts Legacy. People love that game! I had the best day on set. I was wearing a skin-tight outfit covered in dots, with a go-pro jammed against my face. I loved it.

That, and Genshin Impact. I play about 5240 characters in Genshin Impact and the fans are insatiable. They are a passionate brood! It’s quite astounding.

4. What additional goals are you currently pursuing within the next 1-3 years?

I’ve got script that are ready, I’m just in the process of connecting with producers and actors to get them across the line. A script of mine about a drag queen as been optioned by a big musical theatre producer, so I’m excited for that!
Voiceover-wise, wow. I’ve got a goal of being the lead in an animated series. I’m getting there! I’ve been the lead of certain episodes, but to be the next… Spongebob or Timmy Turner, that’s the next step.
Aside from that, about two dozen Emmy’s and an Oscar or two and I’ll be set.

5. What challenges did you encounter on your journey, and how did you overcome them?

None. It’s easy. Anybody who says it’s hard is a lying gatekeeper.

Oh, wait. Nope. That’s about putting on pants. Challenges in the entertainment industry? The biggest one is resilience. Just keep going. Don’t give up. That’s hard, sometimes. But I’ve had so much rejection by this point, it’s build up a mental callous. Can’t wait to bring this up in therapy!

Just kidding. She fired me. I’m assume it’s because I’m all cured. What were we talking about?

6. If you had the opportunity to collaborate with anyone, whether as an actor or director, who would you choose to work alongside?

Nathan Lane. Didn’t even have to finish the question.

Hands down, my favourite actor. A shining star of stage and screen. We’d sit and drink Manhattan’s and talk about theatre for hours. And gab about backstage gossip.

I’ve actually written a movie FOR him with my dear friend Maddi Silva. Very funny, that girl. We’re going to reach out after the strike.
