The tragic crash claimed the lives of both pilots and left 41 others injured. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently on the ground investigating the communication failures that led to the collision. The specific runway remains closed for debris cleanup and flight recorder recovery, triggering widespread cancellations.

Police Hunt Multi-Borough Bank Robber

The NYPD is asking the public to help track down a suspect behind a recent string of bank robberies. Authorities are searching for 33-year-old Gustavo DeJesus Torres, who allegedly targeted six different Chase Bank branches spanning Brooklyn, Queens, Harlem, and the Bronx over just five days.

Despite the high number of attempts, officials report that Torres only managed to steal a total of $605. The suspect reportedly uses written notes to demand the cash and flees on foot. Security footage has been released as the search continues.

Speed Limit Reductions and Commuter Relief

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is pushing a new citywide initiative to drop speed limits in hundreds of school zones down to 15 mph. On top of the traffic shifts, the administration is gearing up for a massive pothole repair operation this coming weekend, which will likely cause temporary lane closures.

For drivers commuting outside the city, there is some potential financial relief on the horizon. A new bipartisan bill dubbed the “End the Toll Trap” act has been introduced by lawmakers to eliminate the massive late fees tied to E-ZPass billing.
