A 22-year-old man has been taken into custody following a late-night vandalism spree in Queens that targeted nearly a dozen vehicles belonging to the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

According to police, the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens. Officers working out of the NYPD’s 116th Precinct were alerted to multiple damaged vehicles—both marked and unmarked—that were parked and unoccupied at the time of the attacks.

Investigators report that at least eleven NYPD vehicles sustained damage caused by an unknown object. Visual evidence from the scene showed shattered windows, broken side mirrors and tires, and holes in windshields.

The suspect, identified as Christian Genwright, of Valley Stream, New York, was arrested the following evening in Queens. He faces a series of charges including 14 counts of criminal mischief, two counts of weapon possession, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 21, 2026.

At the time of reporting, authorities have not released a motive for the vandalism. Local police are reviewing surveillance footage and other evidence to determine exactly how and why the offense occurred.
