That’s Just Me: The XV Track That Spoke My Truth

Growing up, there were rappers who made hits…

And then there was XV,

Who made sense.

He wasn’t trying to be somebody else.

He made it cool to be yourself.

For a whole generation of kids who didn’t fit in —

The gamers, the creatives, the introverts, the deep thinkers —

XV was the soundtrack.

And for me, no track hit harder than

“That’s Just Me” from the Zero Heroes album.

“I like my beat loud, I like my bass up / Windows tinted so them haters can’t see… but that’s just me.”

That wasn’t just a catchy hook.

It was an anthem for authenticity.

It taught me to own my personality, my pain, and my passion — unapologetically.

The L7 motto?

That was more than branding — it was belonging.

He made being square feel like a badge of honor.

A rebellion against being fake.

A celebration of being real.

XV reminded us that being yourself isn’t a weakness —

It’s your superpower.

We remember what his music did for us.

And we’ll always stand by one truth:

He’s one of the greatest to ever do it.

Long live L7. Long live XV.
