1. Could you provide some insight into your background?
I grew up in a small trailer the size of a van almost. In my grandmas yard. My dad eventually saved up enough money for us to move out of there and into a house I was 7 at that time. I would always see how my dad would go to work and come home late. My mom would take care of us and always cook no matter what situation we were in. Even though some people call how I grew up poor I don’t see it that way. I grew up very lucky to have parents that never gave up and always tried their best to give my brothers and I a life with beautiful memories.
2. What motivated you to begin your artistic journey?
I was always drawing from a young age. But what motivated me to keep going was when I was 12. I remember my mother showing me that my dad used to draw and that was the first time she showed me his drawings. As I was looking at them I thought “ I need to get better so I can be better than my dad”. Ever since then I kept going pushing my self everyday with different challenges. Drawing things using pen only and doing complicated subjects that my dad never drew. It took years but I eventually did become better than my dad and now what motivates me is becoming better than yesterday.
3. What aspirations do you have for your creative endeavors?
The world deserves beautiful art. I want to leave behind my passion so others can enjoy. It doesn’t matter what I’m creating. I will always put all my effort into creating it. If I can make people smile and take away their negative thoughts for a moment. Putting something positive in there instead. Then I know I’m on the right track to greatness.
4. Do you have any guiding principles that shape your daily life?
I wake up thanking God for allowing me another chance to prove my self. I strive to always be better than yesterday. Whether that’s in my art by learning a new technique, or learning more cooking recipes from my mother. Seeing my dad always working and pushing himself to give me the life I have today motivates me to be like him. To wake up no matter how I feel or what’s on my mind and achieve something of value. That guides me more than anything. To see how great of a man my father is. My biggest aspiration I have is to retire my parents with the dream I’m following. As long as I keep having faith in Gods plan that he has for me I know it’ll eventually happen.
5. What notable achievements have you attained up to now?
I’ve sold over 300 paintings around the world. So many countries that have paintings of mine. And my loyal fans who collect my art. That’s an achievement seeing how I’m able to reach far places and give people something of value that they enjoy looking at.
6. Is there anything else you’d like others to know about you?
I believe self improvement is something I’m always working towards. Never accepting comfort or being content with where I am in life. I believe there’s always something to learn or get done. Yes there’s stress that comes with it and moments of sadness when I don’t get the results I want. But if I ever quit and let this dream die then I would be betraying my values and God. Because I know I’m on a path that’s not easy. I hope the people who look to me for inspiration and guidance see that I am always pushing for greatness and beyond what’s expected.
