Marc Cloutier
Tell us a little about you(your background and how was it like)?
I was born in 1986. When I was 21 months I had a liver transplant that was successful. Growing up I never wanted to be treated differently and was reluctant to talk about what I’ve been through medically. Music and sports have helped me maintain somewhat of a “normal” life because it has been a great distraction from reality. My transplant medication has forced me into needing two new kidneys with having one kidney transplant in 2014. I now write online for high school football across the country and have played in a band since my last transplant in 2014. I have been to Paris and San Francisco by myself and am looking forward to going to Seattle in November.
What do you value most from your country?
The health care and our cultural diversity. Being a foodie i really enjoy the many different restaurants in our city of Winnipeg.
Who influences you to go after your goals?
Wanting to be a better person than I was before and the feeling you get when you accomplish something that you set out to do.
What advice can you give a teen about going through hardships?
Keep your head up. Hardships don’t last forever and it’s critical to stay positive in whatever we are going through. We get one life so it’s best to push forward.
If you and only three wish to change your family or the world’s life what would they be?
I would like to see less hate in the world. Everybody should accept each other regardless of race, religion or background.
Was there a time u helped others out?
yes but I rather not talk about it.
Are you happy in the position you are now in life?
Yes because I’m doing many things to keep myself happy. I.e sports writing, volunteering at a local radio station doing a sports talk show and working 5 days a week. I’ve also been saving money which is something new to me. I never cared before because of the uncertainty my life brings.
